I regret to inform you that I have suspended my campaign for congress due to recent, unexpected needs within our family business that necessitate my direct involvement. I feel my obligation to the company I helped start and the hundreds of employees and their families dependent on Garbett Homes must come first.
This has been one of the most difficult decisions I have ever made. I believe our country is at a critical juncture. We need women and men who are honest, have good judgement, and have the fortitude to stand for the best that is America. That includes the will to challenge corrosive political processes pervasive in our federal government today. I know I could have made a positive difference for the people of Utah’s 2nd Congressional District. But my first loyalty right now however lies with my husband and the 300 men, women and their families that depend on us for their livelihood. This is something I cannot ignore.
I wish Republican Congressman Chris Stewart, Democratic candidate Shireen Ghorbani, and Libertarian candidate Jeffrey Whipple the best. They are good, decent individuals and I hope, if elected or not, they will continue advocating for all of us in Utah, no matter our political affiliation or personal beliefs. My sincerest wish is that America correct where needed, and stay the course where appropriate, to make us both a great and a good country.
I appreciate your support for my campaign. I invite your involvement and enthusiasm again in 2020. I’m sure it will be here before we know it.
